The Batch Association:  A Vision

Seventeen years ago, some 180 young girls marched down graduation aisle to the tune of "Farewell, My Friends," anxious and excited to conquer the world, their dreams and themselves. Each very different and unique from the other, but all armed with the fresh idealism of youth.

Years hence, as most of us have achieved and even surpassed our goals, our focus in life has evolved. Most of us now have realized how much blessed we have been through the years and that the time is right to give back to the Giver and to share our blessings with others.

For the elating triumphs and humbling failures that have tested our sensitive egos, for the kept secrets that soldered loyalties, for the joys and pains that have fuelled the bloom of adolescent friendships into lifetime bonds – we look back to our Alma Mater with a singular feeling of gratitude for all the challenges, and pride for overcoming them.

It is with nostalgic gratefulness that the vision for the Batch Association was conceived: A unified and dynamic group of women in society, the Class of 1984 is committed to serving the Alma Mater and the community by sharing our talents and resources, upholding the values we live by and hold most dear.

As its main mission, the Batch Association shall seek to provide educational, cultural, social, civic and charitable assistance to our school and its deserving scholars.

With the creation of the SHS HS 1984 Association, we will have a legitimate avenue to implement various activities that will foster and reinforce the bond of sisterhood that lies fervent within us all.

In the short run (2002-2004), we also envision the Association to undertake various fund-raising activities that will add meaning to our 20th Year Homecoming in 2004!

We are creating this Batch Association (which has for its bedrock the ideals of gratitude and generosity) now, during these hard and trying times – when trials seem to be unceasing, when our world shrinks as we think of ourselves seldom our neighbors – as a testament to truth, goodness and hope prevailing in the hearts of women we are proud to call the Class of 1984.
